National Dog Week is September 22nd-September 28th. There are so many ways to celebrate with your dogs this week! Depending on what your dog likes to do, your Bel Air dog walker has plenty of ideas for you and your pup to celebrate National Dog Week.
Explore Dog Friendly Places
You don’t have to go far to spend time at a dog friendly restaurant patio, dog park, or dog friendly event in your town. When going to a dog friendly place to eat or an event, make sure you have potty bags and your dog is on a leash. Make sure your dog is okay with being around other people and dogs in public. Some dogs are great with all of the stimulation, and others simply cannot handle it. Do whatever works for your dog!
Time For Something New
Your dog deserves a special treat this week. Maybe it’s time for a new collar or leash, maybe try out my favorite, the harness lead. There are so many cute leashes and collars out there to choose for your dog. A new toy is always a crowd-pleaser and what pup doesn't love a Kong? Take your dog to the pet store and let him pick out a new ball or fun toy.
Dog Spa Day
Does your dog love being brushed and massaged? Does she need her nails trimmed and a bath? This week is the perfect time to give your dog her own spa day, . If your dog doesn’t like going to the groomer, you can try grooming her at home or call a mobile groomer to come to you. You can even wash her doggo yourself at Pet Nirvana.
Give Back
Give back to your local pet shelter by donating food or other necessary items for dogs. Most shelters or rescues have a list on their website of what supplies they need. Usually they need food, blankets, and litter. Bring a few new toys to the shelter for the dogs to play with outside or ask if they need any treats for training sessions with the dogs. Here is a list from the Harford County Humane Society, they even have an Amazon wishlist!
Have A Photo Shoot
Do you love taking photos of your dog? Set up a time to go to a scenic location and take some photos or use your backyard as a backdrop. Bring your dog’s favorite toy and snap photos of some action shots. You can even have the photos made into a colorful canvas to hang in your home. Need help with your picture taking? Try BarkCam
Keep It Simple
Spending time at home with your dog while you watch TV or play in the backyard are simple ways to bond with your dog. Celebrating National Dog Week doesn’t have to mean you do anything fancy. It’s all about enjoying the connection and time you have with your dog.
